Starting today, the 8th of June, and until the 12th, the Apple Worldwide Developer Conference is taking place in San Francisco.
The keynote is today and there better be a new iPhone or there WILL be a riot!
Who knows, maybe Apple will surprise us all by letting us in on a forthcoming tablet netbook?? Now that would be cool. Without a doubt out of my budget but that would be incredible. An OLED screen could be interesting.
I guess we’ll just have to sit quietly until we are told. SF is 8 hours behind so let’s get the cups of coffee lined up.
The updated Kumo (spider in Japanese) search engine now known as Bing will be released at this year All Things Digital conference in California officially announced Steve Ballmer.
The main difference between this search engine and Google will be the categorisation of results.
Like “paperghost” said in one of his last Tweet “You know everyone is going to call Microsofts new search engine Chandler, right?”
I personally have nothing to hide but I think this would be a bad idea. Graham Cluley from Sophos has raised some very interesting security points about the disadvantages of geo-tagging on every tweets done.
To list a few:
Total lack of privacy
Helping stalkers find their prays
Letting the burglars know where you are
….
My advice would be to have it setup as disabled by default and warn users about the potential risks if they want to use this. From the privacy point of view I think we have enough CCTV cameras pointed at us as it is.
As I think most of you by now know that I spend a lot of my idle time (mainly in the car in the way to and back from work) listening to a bunch of podcasts. The majority of them come from the Twit network (with Leo Laporte) and, in my last couple of years listening, I got to recognise some names, know what they do and what they are good at etc…
On the MacBreak Weekly podcasts, a regular guest is Mr Scott Bourne. His expertise is in the wildlife photography (birds mainly). I follow Scott Bourne on Twitter and he posted a link pointing to a picture of an Egret in black and white. I know about his work but since I listen to those podcasts in the car it isn’t always convenient to navigate to the website they are talking about… Anyway, I thought I ought to let my visitors know, if they didn’t already, about Scott Bourne and his work. Follow this link to the picture mentioned above on his Flicker page: http://www.flickr.com/photos/applephoneshow/3571111611/

You can see more of his stuff and this is a bird only area on http://avianstock.com/ or for more general photography tips and reviews http://photofocus.com/ is the place. I would recommend to read through the story behind the photos. I find they add an other layer.
Following my earlier post, I browsed to Macrumors.com to see if there was any news on the alleged new tablet from Apple. I eventually stumbled upon this forum http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=706208 showing a picture of stock control screen in Best Buy (American store) and more particularly a new product code for Apple with a release date of May the 31st.
I went on to looking at the comments and this is where it starts to get funny. The imagination just runs wild in those forums! What could be in that box?? Could it be a new tablet? Is MC a code for Mobile Computing? Why is the size of the box the same as the item? Is there one item per box? A weight of 8.9lbs???? Too heavy for a new iPhone!!! Could it be a new MacBook or maybe a MacBook Pro?????
You can just picture them standing rocking in front of their screens chewing their nails and sweating profusely.
Apple, best know for its innovations in easy user interface (like the click wheel and the touch technology) has once again managed to surprise us by re-inventing the wheel, literally!
Tomorrow morning I will drive our Vauxhall Zafira down to Farnham’s Citroen dealer and come back with a Citroen C8.
I will be sad to leave the car we’ve had for the last 2 years on the forecourt. It served us well but, my wife being a childminder, the extra seat will soon be filled. The C8, as most of the Citroens are, is a great family centred car. We had a Xsara Picasso, well actually we’ve had 2 of them and loved the way they had traps in the floor, storage everywhere, large gap in between the seats, stupidly large boot, removeable seats…
The fact that Citroen is made in France is a pure coincidence. No…! Really!!!
